چکیده

We investigate the three-state antiferromagnetic Potts model on a simple cubic lattice with a cluster flipping Monte Carlo simulation algorithm in the temperature region below the transition into disorder at Tc1. We find both the well established broken-sublattice-symmetry (BSS) phase at low temperature and a new, rotationally symmetric phase at higher temperature, but below Tc1. The properties of the second phase and the transition temperature to the BSS phase are in disagreement with recent cluster-variation and Monte Carlo simulation results, but in agreement with simulations by Kolesik and Suzuki. 05.50.+q, 75.10.Hk Typeset using REVTEX

Mean-Field Analysis of Antiferromagnetic Three-State Potts Model with Next Nearest Neighbor Interaction

The three-state Potts model with antiferromagnetic nearest-neighbor (n.n.) and ferromagnetic next-nearest-neighbor (n.n.n) interaction is investigated within a mean-field theory. We find that the phase-diagram contains two kind of ordered phases, so-called BSS phase and PSS phase, separated by a discontinuous phase transition line. Order-disorder transition is continuous for the weak n.n.n. int...

On the low-temperature ordering of the 3D antiferromagnetic three-state Potts model

The antiferromagnetic three-state Potts model on the simple-cubic lattice is studied using Monte Carlo simulations. The ordering in a medium temperature range below the critical point is investigated in detail. Two di erent regimes have been observed: The so-called broken sublattice-symmetry phase dominates at su ciently low temperatures, while the phase just below the critical point is charact...

Three-state Potts model on a triangular lattice.

We study the phase diagram of the three-state Potts model on a triangular lattice with general interactions (ferro/antiferromagnetic) between nearest neighbor spins. When the interactions along two lattice-vector directions are antiferromagnetic and infinitely strong, this model becomes equivalent to a six-vertex model and exhibits a first-order (KDP) transition from an ordered phase into a cri...

Phases of the three-state Potts model in three spatial dimensions

The three-state Potts model is numerically investigated on three-dimensional simple cubic lattices of up to 128 volume, concentrating on the neighborhood of the first-order phase transition separating the ordered and disordered phases. In both phases clusters of like spins are observed with irregular boundaries. In the ordered phase the two different non-favored spins are found to attract each ...

A Potts model with infinitely degenerate ground state

A q-component Potts model with ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic interactions in the two respective directions of a square lattice is considered. An argument is given showing that an ordered phase can exist in this model, even though the ground state is disordered and infinitely degenerate. We use the Migdal-Kadanoff transformation to obtain a closed-form expression for its critical point. We...
